TASERs Issued to Non-Firearms Trained Police in the UK.

A 12 month trial of the deployment of TASERs by specially trained Police units who are not firearms officers commenced on 1 September 2007.
These officers are permitted to use their TASERS in operations or incidents where the criteria for the authorisation to issue firearms does not apply, but where the officers are facing violence or threats of violence of such severity that they would need to use force to protect the public, themselves and/or the subject(s) of their action.

UK Police Forces where non-firearms officers have TASERS:

  • Avon and Somerset
  • Devon and Cornwall
  • Gwent
  • Lincolnshire
  • Merseyside
  • Metropolitan Police Service
  • Northamptonshire
  • Northumbria
  • North Wales
  • West Yorkshire.

These officers, armed with their TASERs, may leave their force areas so could be encountered anywhere in the UK.

I do not want to live in an environment where the Police have TASERs, are permitted to use them against children and are free to use them in situations where they would not have resorted to firearms had TASERs not been available.

I have seen some literally shocking, videos on youtube one where a chap asking questions to senator kerry was pulled out and tazered, another where a woman was tazered by two police officers, both in the States but who says it won’t happen here.
